Diablo Ballet’s season concludes with Celebrated Masters May 4 – 5, 2018 returning to the Del Valle Theatre.

Immediately after each performance, ticket holders are invited to stay for a post-performance Q&A with our dancers, choreographers and musicians followed by a dessert and coffee reception where you can meet and mingle with the dancers!

Red Shoes

Music: In the Upper Room for chamber orchestra by Philip Glass
Choreography: Robert Dekkers

This highly anticipated world premiere is based on the fairy tale by Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen. The ballet, set to the thrilling score by Academy Award nominated composer Philip Glass, explores the birth, evolution, and ultimate demise of the ego. Costumes will be designed by well known fashion designer, Cassidy Haley.

Stolen Moments (Excerpt)

Music: Jean-Philippe Rameau
Choreography: Val Caniparoli

The stylish quartet excerpt from Stolen Moments, was originally choreographed for the Richmond Ballet in 2015. Critics sited: “This lush in eccentric movement is beautifully bizarre and layered fantastically with emotion and contradicting movements.”

Four Norwegian Moods

Music: Four Norwegian Moods for Orchestra by Igor Stravinsky
Choreography: Lew Christensen

The charming and lyrical duet by Lew Christensen was originally created for the San Francisco Ballet in 1976 in celebration of Christensen’s 25-year anniversary as Artistic Director of that company. The ballet is set to Stravinsky’s beautiful score for chamber orchestra.
