Diablo Ballet School follows a structured sequence of training stages intended to increase student’s technical skills, stamina and discipline in accordance with their age and physical development. We emphasize correct placement in order to prevent injury. Our curriculum embraces traditional ballet principles. Our instructors have extensive experience and a passion for teaching and sharing their love of dance. These methods help to provide a healthy and enjoyable learning environment and allow the students to experience a feeling of mastery in each level. All classes will be offered in-person with the option of doing virtually if preferred.

Children’s division

Registration is available online and class level is determined by age. Diablo Ballet School will offer one drop in trial class for our Pre-Ballet or Ballet Level 1 classes for a rate of $20 per student. To schedule a trial class, please email school@diabloballet.org or call (925) 943-1775. (Please have your child wear a plain colored leotard, pink tights and ballet slippers OR black leggings, plain white or pink t-shirt and white socks for the trial).

Pre-Ballet

Ages 3-5
An introduction to ballet with beginning development of ballet concepts including turn out, coordination, spatial awareness, musicality and a specific focus on class etiquette. Students will begin positions of the feet, and introductory movement vocabulary.

Pre-Ballet 2

Ages 5-6
For students who have already had an introduction to ballet and will continue development of ballet concepts including turn out, coordination, spatial awareness, musicality and a specific focus on class etiquette. Students will begin positions of the feet, and introductory movement vocabulary.

Ballet Level 1

Turning 7 in school year and up
The goal of Ballet Level 1 is to impart the fundamentals of classical ballet. The class will focus on basic ballet technique, proper body alignment, French terminology and musicality. Students will be introduced to elementary barre and centre work. This class is required twice a week.
