Open Technique Classes
Open Classes are designed for students who want to supplement their training with an additional technique class. Classes are open to any student regardless if they are enrolled in Diablo Ballet School or not.
Open Intermediate Advanced Technique
Our Intermediate/Advanced technique class challenges students to further continue developing musicality, strength, and proper technique while training under a professional company. Recommended for students ages 11 – 18 with at least four years of ballet training. Taught by Diablo Ballet company dancer Walker Martin.
Walker Martin was born in Clinton, Oklahoma and trained at the Western Oklahoma Ballet Academy. In the summers, he studied on scholarship at the Joffrey Ballet School and American Ballet Theatre® (ABT) Summer Intensives in New York City, and was named an ABT® National Training Scholar from 2009 to 2011. Mr Martin continued his training at Houston Ballet’s Ben Stevenson Academy, where he performed with Houston Ballet in Ben Stevenson’s The Nutcracker and Stanton Welch’s Cinderella. He then danced with Ballet Quad Cities for a season before joining Oklahoma City Ballet in 2013. He was promoted to Soloist in 2016. With Oklahoma City Ballet, Mr. Martin performed leading and feature roles, including The White Rabbit in Septime Webre’s ALICE (in wonderland), Melancholic in George Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments, Jonathan Harker and Renfield in Michael Pink’s Dracula, The Champion Roper in Agnes de Mille’s Rodeo, Gurn in August Bournonville’s La Sylphide, Mercutio and Benvolio in Robert Mills’ Romeo & Juliet, Hans/The Nutcracker and the Sugar Plum Cavalier in Mills’ The Nutcracker, Puck in Mills’ A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Prince Ivan in Mills’ The Firebird, Prince Eric in Mills’ The Little Mermaid, as well as the title role in Paul Vasterling’s Peter Pan. Additionally, Mr. Martin’s repertoire with Oklahoma City Ballet included works by Twyla Tharp, Jorma Elo, Stanton Welch, Helen Pickett, Toni Pimble, and Amy Seiwert, and he has also created roles in works by Cayetano Soto, Matthew Neenan, Brian Enos, Ma Cong, Sarah Tallman, and Robert Mills. Mr. Martin is certified in Pre-Primary through Level 7 and Partnering of the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum, and is an ABT® Fellowship Teacher, having successfully presented students for examinations. This will be Mr. Walkers first season with Diablo Ballet.
Online registration is available below and open to students ages 11 – 18. A one-time registration fee of $25 will be required for all students to secure your place in the class for the entire duration of the year.
Tuition is $80 per month and is billed on the 1st of each month to the credit card on file (added when you register). You may stop and start the class as needed without any additional fees, but notice must be given to email@example.com 7 days prior to the end of the month if you wish to not continue the following month.
We ask that students adhere to Diablo Ballet Schools Dress Code:
Ladies: Students are encouraged to wear a black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. A demi skirt or black shorts can be worn as well.
Men: Students are encouraged to wear white fitted tops, black footed tights, white ankle socks, tan (or nude) colored dance belt and ballet shoes.
